TOKARA Concert
～Seascape～
The SeaScape Project is so called because it captures the image of one looking out as far as possible across the surface of the ocean. No matter how far the human eye can see, there is no barrier within view.
While being based in Japan, TOKARA is a rare in that as a professional group, our members are from many different cultures and countries. With this, our 15th Anniversary, we continue to work to improve ourselves and the unique TOKARA-style of musical taiko drumming.
The title of our 15th Anniversary Tour "Seascape" aims to capture the image of one standing on a beach and looking across the ocean. There are no walls, no barriers, nothing to hinder sight for as far as the eye can see. In the same vision, children have no such barrier within themselves until their barriers are pushed in from the outside. They can see wonder in even the simplest facets of nature. It is this simple wonder which we try to keep to guide us on our path to grow...without pride or ego.
The songs presented in this concert have a direct impression to the earth's oceans and all of it's facets. The concert program takes us on a voyage throughout the strength, serenity and beauty of water on earth.

Intensive Concert
～Gouki Kadan～
"Gouki Kadan" means "dauntless and decisive, with fortitude and resolution".
The title for TOKARA Artistic Director Art Lee's 25th Anniversary concert in 2018 and beyond, this captured so completely the image that he has for his life. To persevere even through the toughest times not only as a performer, but also as a director, composer, teacher and artist...not only on the stage, but throughout every aspect of daily life.
Each piece in this concert strives to evoke the dauntless energy and decisive perseverance throughout the years leading up to this moment, and continuing without wavering. But make no mistake, the absolute joy and fun encapsulated in each performance is in abundance here. For it is the joy of being able to live each day with the taiko music in our hearts that is the seed and water from which sprouts the strength of our resolution.

School Performances
School Performance are one of our favorite types of shows!
Each school performance consists of between three to four performances pieces. Also fun lectures about the different types of taiko drums and about Japan, and a short session where both students and teachers will have a chance to play with TOKARA.
